President’s Corner: 5/4

Hi Wellesley! We wanted to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves–your new College Government Cabinet for this upcoming year–and to provide you all with an update on what we have been doing so far in our roles to prepare for upcoming year. But before we do that, we wanted to thank you all for all the support shown during campaign week. Not only are we excited to serve you all to the best of our abilities, but we also feel honored that you have put your faith in us. So, thank you for that!

Zainab Younus, the incoming CGP, ran on the platform of increasing communication between Cabinet and the student body. This blurb is just one of the steps we are taking to not only increase communication but be transparent with the student body. Since the end of elections, we all have met with our respective mentors and/or outgoing predecessors. While official turnover is on Monday, May 2, some of us have begun the process of turning over by learning more about our respective committees and the resources available to us next year in order for us to complete our agenda.

As a Cabinet, we have convened and met with Meg Jordan, Associate Director of the Office of Student Involvement, to discuss tentative plans for next year, though most of this will be discussed during our training session in August 2016. In an effort to introduce ourselves and to have some fun during reading period, Cabinet will be providing free ice cream for all students. We will be driving around campus in an ice-cream truck on Thursday, May 5. Join us at a stop near you!

We are extremely excited and looking forward to starting work in our respective roles. We hope to see as many of you on Thursday, May 5 at our ice-cream truck event. See you soon, Wellesley and best of luck during finals! Have a great end of the semester!

Warm Wishes,

College Government Cabinet ’16-’17
