President’s Corner 10/01/2019

Hello Wellesley,

I hope this week finds you well as we enjoy the last traces of the warm weather. This week in College Government, we started off with our Senate meeting on Monday, Sept. 30. During this session, we heard constitutional presentations from the Schneider Board of Governors (SBOG) and the newly Appointed Representatives Committee (ARC). Senate will vote on their proposed changes the following Monday, Oct. 7. This session should be particularly exciting, as I have also invited Piper Orton, vice president for finance and administration and treasurer, to present on the operating budget and endowment. As always, Senate is open to all members of the Wellesley College Community and convenes every Monday from 6 to 7 pm in the Academic Council room.

In other news, Daniela Limbania Castro Perez ’21, this year’s chair of the senate policy and ethics committee, kicked off a formal working group surrounding reply-all email chains and the class google groups. If you have feedback or would like to work on bettering the situation surrounding these issues, please reach out to her at specchair@wellesley.edu. Wellesley plans to shift away from utilizing Class Google Groups in the Spring 2020 term, so this fall is our opportunity as a community to assess how we currently communicate online and what it would like to have a better system of email communications.

I hope you have a great rest of your week, and please feel free to reach out to me at cgpresident@wellesley.edu with any questions or thoughts.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve, and all the best.

Sincerely,

Diana
