Dear Wellesley,

My name is Margaret Huai (she/her/hers), and I am a rising junior double majoring in Political Science and American Studies. I am running to be your next Political Engagement Chair, the Cabinet position that chairs the Committee for Political Engagement (CPE).

I have been active in CPE since Fall 2022 through the Events and Newsletter Committees. I was elected to serve on the 2023-2024 CPE E-Board as the Discussions Chair, producing questions to foster meaningful political discussion and debate to begin CPE meetings.

Through these roles, I have learned how to create a safe and inclusive space at CPE for all students as we discuss many heavy political topics. I also know the logistics of planning signature CPE events and distributing the CPE Newsletter The Update.

Beyond CPE, I have been heavily involved in Wellesley College Government. My first year, I was a Senator for Wellesley for UNICEF. I am also your 2023-2024 CG Cabinet Secretary-Treasurer. Thus, I am aware of how to utilize Senate resolutions, ballot initiatives, and communications to facilitate political advocacy efforts. I have a proven track record of doing so on issues ranging from supporting other 7 Siblings student governments on gender inclusivity and MIT’s student government on ending the practice of unpaid public sector internships.

As your Political Engagement Chair, I promise to:

Thank you for your time and consideration! Voting will take place via WEngage on March 5th. For more information, check out http://tinyurl.com/wcgelections24 or email any questions to to ecspr24@wellesley.edu.

Margaret Huai (she/her/hers), Purple Class of 2026, mh116@wellesley.edu
