Hello Wellesley,
I hope everything is going well and that you took some time to either enjoy Halloween festivities or relax this past weekend.
Senate has officially unveiled its new system of drop-in hours, which will now occur Mondays through Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lulu entrance. This is our first coordinated effort to offer a consistent set of drop-in hours. We are open to all questions, comments or statements, and anybody is welcome to swing by to speak with us. We hope that our drop-in hours will help us remain visible and transparent to the community that we hope to serve.
In the same vein of transparency and coordination among our various groups, executive senators have convened the first executive senators council. It is a group that will meet monthly to discuss and move forward senate’s action items, and it will actively work to develop senate’s leadership pipeline. Although this group is only open to executive senators, I make the announcement of the executive senators council because it is an exciting display of how senate is committed to not only being present for the community we serve, but also the community we exist in.
In terms of events, the fall Leadership Workshop series has officially begun. These are excellent opportunities for students of all class years to come together for leadership development. The next workshop is on Monday, Nov. 18 from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in Pendleton East, room 251, and will be led by the College’s Ombudsperson, Kathryn Bender, on the topic of “Mastering Difficult Conversations.”
Lastly, there is a Town Hall tonight, Nov. 6, regarding the class Google groups from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the academic council room on the fourth floor of Green Hall. It is led by the Ad Hoc Committee on Class Google Groups, which is chaired by Daniela Limbania Castro Perez ’21 from the Senate Policy and Ethics Committee (SPEC).
Thank you for the opportunity to serve our community, and please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or comments.
Thanks,
Diana
