Dear Wellesley Community,
Hey everybody! My name is Sophie Trammell, and I am delighted to announce my candidacy for Director of On-Campus Affairs (DOOCA).
The role of DOOCA is demanding and multifaceted. The successful execution of campus-wide events requires diligent preparation, clear communication with administration, and dynamic leadership of the Schneider Board of Governors (SBOG) team. I believe that I possess the organization, assertiveness, and flexibility required to navigate the complexities of campus wide events.
I bring a year of experience on SBOG, as well as a semester of experience as the Parties Chairperson. During my time as a general member, I was introduced to the coordination and teamwork required to make a SBOG event run smoothly. I learned the importance of being prepared to respond to any issue that may arise, and how to maintain the warm, and welcoming atmosphere that SBOG events are known for. My election to Parties Chair gave me the opportunity to learn about the behind the scenes work of event planning. I gained skills that I will use every day as DOOCA, such as communicating with off-campus vendors, dividing and delegating tasks between members of my committee, and maximizing the utility of a limited budget.
I base my vision for SBOG in the 2024-25 school year around maximizing fun and inclusivity. SBOG events, and Wellesley social culture as a whole, has improved in leaps and bounds since the pandemic, but it still has a ways to go. As DOOCA, I plan to petition for the reimplementation of pre-pandemic events, such as Remix. I also plan to open up an avenue for input from the Wellesley community on the genre of the LDOC artist (no you still can’t know who the artist is). I would like to maintain and redouble SBOG’s efforts to collaborate with other on-campus organizations. I want SBOG events to have something for everyone, which begins with creating a platform for collaboration, comments, and criticism from the community which we serve.
At the end of the day, I commit to make this campus a more fun place to be. Whatever fun looks like to you, I want to provide it. We all live together, work together, and learn together. Who’s to say we cant have a blast together too?
Thank you kindly for your consideration. It would be an honor to serve each and every one of you as DOOCA next year. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, prophetic insights, ad hominem insults, etc… please reach out to me at [email protected].
Voting will take place via WEngage on March 5th. For more information, check out http://tinyurl.com/wcgelections24 or email any questions to [email protected].
