As lacrosse, softball and crew all begin their preseason practices, Wellesley’s winter sports teams are getting closer to the end of their regular seasons, with some gearing up for post-season play.

Squash

No. 21 Squash (13-5) had some highs and lows this past week. On Tuesday Feb. 9 they defeated Boston College 8-1. The match celebrated the team’s two seniors, Gabriella Wynne and Kate Loftus, for their commitment to the Wellesley Squash program. This match was their ninth consecutive victory. On Saturday Feb. 13 the Blue’s streak came to an end when they lost to Colby College, ranked 20th. The Blue’s regular season has ended, but they will pick up post-season play on Friday Feb. 19 when they attend the CSA Women’s Team Championship at Yale University.

Basketball

The Blue had a big win against Mount Holyoke on Saturday Feb. 13, to improve to a record of 4-17 overall. Senior forward Chelsi Scott had a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. The Blue will take the court again on Wednesday Feb. 17 to host the Smith College Pioneers. The game will be a part of the annual Play4Kay, a national initiative to raise awareness and funds for women’s cancer research. Additionally, this event will coincide with Wellesley’s annual Student-Athlete Appreciation Day where there will be opportunities to win prizes and celebrate the Blue student-athletes.

Track & Field
