Professor Goddard and Professor Diesl explain potential upcoming schedule changes

Professor Goddard and Professor Diesl described the changes Academic Council was considering making to the schedule, to the Senate. In addition to the increase in class times, the Academic Council is also looking to remedy the problem of having more than half of the classes offered in the morning time slots. They recognize that this causes a lot of students to either miss taking a class they are intrigued by or being unable to take a class to complete a major requirement. They explained their goal was to ease the student experience in the academic arena at Wellesley, which is why they will be proposing schedule changes in the Academic Council to allow classes to be distributed relatively evenly. They invite all students to give their feedback to them on how the new schedule might impact students, or cross registration.

SOFC proposes an increase on the cap on budget for food

The Student Bursar explained to the Senate that currently, the Student Organization Funding Committee (SOFC) has a 20% cap on the budget for food for organization. This has caused many organizations to get much less then they need to adequately provide food for their events, which can be an integral part of an event. In lieu of that, SOFC will be voting on raising the cap from 20% to 35%. Many senators questioned why the budget cap would be raised 5% higher than it is actually required to. The Student Bursar responded that this would ensure flexibility in the food allotment budget and allow organizations to be properly funded.
