Field Hockey
On Saturday afternoon, Wellesley’s field hockey team hosted Smith College at Butler Stadium for a NEWMAC matchup. The Blue beat Smith 3-0 to complete its first conference win. The three goals were scored by Carson Dennis ‘21, Julia Rappaport ‘22 and Amy Kate Williams ‘23. Dennis also had an assist to lead The Blue to the win. The Blue now sits at a 5-4 overall record (1-1 in NEWMAC). Wellesley Field Hockey members will travel to Clark next Saturday, Oct 5 for an 11:00 AM match.
Golf
Last weekend, members of Wellesley’s golf team competed in the George Phinney Golf Classic hosted by Middlebury College at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course in Middlebury, Vermont. The Blue finished 5th place overall, nine strokes behind NYU in fourth place. Ella Warburg ‘22 tied for sixth place individually to lead The Blue to its overall finish. Kate MacVicar ‘23 finished 18th, while Caroline MacVicar ‘23 tied for 23rd. Wellesley Golf will finish off its fall season next weekend while competing in the Williams Invitational on Oct. 5 and 6.
Soccer
As part of Wellesley College’s annual Earn the W Day, Wellesely soccer competed against Mount Holyoke in a NEWMAC match at the Wellesley College Fields Complex. The Blue beat Mount Holyoke 4-2. The Blue came back from a 0-2 deficit early in the competition. Thea Feldgoise ‘23 started closing the gap followed by three more goals by Eliza Roy ‘23, Liz Shou ‘22 and Julia Jung ‘20. Roy’s goal marks her fourth goal of the season. Next Saturday, The Blue will travel to Coast Guard for a 3:00 PM NEWMAC matchup.
Volleyball
Last Saturday, Wellesley Volleyball beat WPI in an exhilarating 3-2 NEWMAC matchup. The Blue came back from a 0-2 deficit to win the match 3-2. This win improves The Blue to a 4-0 conference record and a 10-3 overall record. Lauren Gedney ‘21 led The Blue with 22 kills on 38 attempts. Setter Izzy Seebold ‘22 put up four kills, 35 assists and two aces. The Blue will continue its season on Tuesday Oct 1 at 7:00 PM, when it hosts Smith in a NEWMAC matchup.
