Field Hockey

Last Saturday, Wellesley Field Hockey competed at Springfield College. Springfield took a 4-1 victory against the Blue, scoring four unanswered goals. Carson Dennis `21 scored The Blue’s lone goal off an assist by Danielle Brubaker `21 for her ninth goal of the season. The Blue are now 7-7 overall and 3-3 in the NEWMAC conference. The Blue will take on MIT on Oct. 22 for a NEWMAC matchup at 4:00pm. 

Crew

Wellesley College Crew rowed three boats in the 55th annual Head Of The Charles Regatta this weekend on the Charles River in Boston. The Blue had two entries in the Women’s Collegiate Eights and one entry in the Women’s Collegiate Fours. The varsity eight finished second to defending national champion Bates College for the best finish in program history in that event. The boat finished with a time of 16:47.200. The second varsity eight finished 20th (16:45.617) and the varsity four took 17th in the Women’s Collegiate Fours (19:24.962). The Blue will return to the Charles River next Sunday, Oct. 26, for an intersquad regatta to finish up the fall season. 

Volleyball

This past weekend, Wellesley College volleyball travelled to Amherst to compete in the 2019 Hall of Fame Invitational. The Blue swept the tournament, with a 3-0 win over Roger Williams and a 3-0 win over Bates. Lauren Gedney `21 took control of the competition this weekend with 10 kills against Roger Williams and 17 kills against Bates to lead Wellesley in both games. The Blue now sit at a 19-3 overall record and an undefeated 8-0 NEWMAC record. The Blue will host MIT (6-1 NEWMAC) on Oct. 22 for a big NEWMAC match up. 

Cross Country

Last Saturday, Wellesley Cross Country competed in the Connecticut College Invitational at Harkness Memorial State Park. The Blue placed 19th overall. Keiko Hilmo `20 placed 89th with a PR of 23:15.6, Samara Shaz `21 finished 127th (23:41.9), and Maya Bradbury `22 came in 140th (23:50.6) as The Blue’s top three finishers. Wellesley Cross Country will continue its season on Nov. 3 at 12:00pm at the NEWMAC Championships at Franklin Park in Boston.
