Hello Wellesley,
I hope everything is going well and that you are enjoying the first snow of the semester. For those of you who are about to experience your first New England winter, please remember to wear plenty of layers and moisturize, and don’t forget to make time for sledding on Severance Green!
It is hard to believe, but as we head into the holiday season, the end of the semester is fast approaching. We have two more business meetings in Senate for the semester, and I encourage you to please attend and participate. The dates for these meetings are Monday, Nov. 18 and Monday, Dec. 2 from 6 to 7 pm in the Academic Council room. Senate is meant to be a community forum, and we are always open to hearing and discussing any and all concerns. Furthermore, you can always find us at our drop-in hours, which occur Mondays through Thursdays from 4 to 6 pm in the Lulu entrance.
In terms of events, the next leadership workshop is on Monday, Nov. 18 from 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm at PNE 251 and will be led by the College’s Ombudsperson, Kathryn Bender, on the topic of “Mastering Difficult Conversations.” Senators and Cabinet will also be in attendance at the next Academic Council this Thursday, Nov. 14 to present the recently passed Wellesley College Government Resolution No. 001, which will call on Wellesley College to observe “Indigenous Peoples’ Day” in place of “Columbus Day” on the second Monday of October each year.
I hope you have a great week, and please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Thank you,
Diana
