College Government Votes

Two amendments to the College Government constitution passed in Senate regarding changes to the Committee Organizing Resource Collective (CORC) and Student Organizations Funding Committee (SOFC). The former committee proposed a change to the name of their student leader from Multicultural Affairs Coordinator (MAC) to Community Organizing and Inclusion Liaison (COIL), and the amendment passed with 94 percent voting ‘yes’ and 5.3 percent abstaining. The second proposal regarded SOFC, which sought to change the process through which student organizations re-apply for funding. The vote, which passed with 96.5 percent ‘yes’ and 3.5 percent abstaining, will streamline the re-application process so that organizations will just have to go through SOFC and not reapply through CORA. A third vote, on whether or not a group of students tied to Hong Kong could use the College Government spam board to create a Lennon Wall in support of the protests, did not pass. 51.7 percent of senators abstained, 32.8 percent voted in favor and 15.5 percent voted against. 

WEngage 

WEngage is the new platform that students and student organizations will be using in the coming semester for all communication with club members, given the impending departure of Google Groups. The platform also functions as a resource for students to learn about or to join a specific organization. The website displays everything from meeting times and location to basic information about the club. Additionally, the platform highlights various events occurring on campus and several organization resources. The phone app version is currently available for Apple users.

Executive Senators Projects

Executive Senators Council, which is comprised of those who are in their second, third or fourth year of Senate, has begun to take on several projects around campus. These include extending the credit/non deadline, finding an easier way to access grades, creating student spaces across campus for first generation LGBTQ+ students, investigating bus and laundry pricing on campus, looking into the lack of lighting outside of campus and increasing the flexibility of the flex point system.
