There’s always something happening on campus related to the arts, be it student led or faculty sponsored. Check out a couple of the cool shows that closed over the weekend!
boom: The Wellesley Repertory Theatre’s winter performance went out with a bang, or should I say a boom? Credit to Chloe Nosan ’20 for the joke and for an absolutely stellar performance as the only Wellesley student in the three person cast — she played Jo, a girl trapped in an underground bunker and by her own body as she struggles to cope with the meteor-induced apocalypse. David Towlun’s set design and Professor Marta Rainer’s directing were flawless, and contributions from the student interns really pulled the show together.
Music Department Honors Concert: Students from all class groups shined onstage as part of a music department sponsored showcase. These students were billed as the best of the best, and they did not disappoint! Shout-out to the student performers for a fantastic night of great music.
And one upcoming show you won’t want to miss…
Fade: Upstage’s first show of the semester is a topical one as discussions about who has the right to share what stories circulate the publishing industry. Alicia Olivo ’20 directs Fade, a production about a Latina woman struggling to fit into a majority white, majority male writing staff of a popular television show. The incredible all-student cast and crew promise a great night! The show opens on Thursday and will run through the weekend.
