Wellesley College Upstage presents Fade

Tanya Saracho’s two-person play about class and status within the Latinx community premiered over the weekend in Barstow Theater to enthusiasm from the Wellesley community. Alicia Olivo ’20 directed the production, with Aliza Camacho ’20 starring as Abel, a Latino night-shift janitor from America, and Amy Sarabia ’20 as Lucia, a Mexican-born television writer struggling to make her way up in an all-male, all-white environment. The Saturday matinee featured a post-show discussion with Barbara Morris Caspersen Associate Professor of Humanities and Associate Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies Irene Mata.

Another year, another Datamatch

Wellesley students got their Datamatch matches last week on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. Datamatch participants filled out a questionnaire that took into account gender identity, whether they’re looking for friendship or romance and their gender preferences, and provided them with potential dates. They had the opportunity to be paired with students from Wellesley, MIT or Boston College––and then they have one week, from Feb. 14 to Feb. 21, to go on a date with a match (and get discounted dessert from Truly Yogurt in the process!) The event is held by the Harvard Computer Society.
