Boston Intercollegiate Government
Leaders of the Boston Intercollegiate Government (BIG) visited the senate meeting to present on their organization and recruit new members. BIG Chairperson Dennis Wieboldt from Boston College and BIG Vice Chairperson Hannah Nivar from Northeastern University gave a short talk to Senate attendees, followed by a Q&A session with CG President Tatiana Ivy Moise ’21, who is also the secretary for BIG. Member institutions include several Boston-area colleges, such as Harvard, MIT and Boston University, and members of BIG form committees to collaborate on resolving common issues. CPLA Constitutional Amendments
Committee on Political and Legislative Awareness Chair Teran Chapis ’22 presented several proposed amendments to the CPLA constitution. Included in the proposal were changing the name of CPLA to the Committee for Political Engagement (CPE), changing the name of the CPLA Chair to be the Political Engagement Chair (PEC), adding a newsletter editor to e-board and modifying the criteria for the impeachment of members. Senate will vote on these amendments at their next meeting.
SBOG and ASL Votes
Senate was set to vote on amendments to the Schneider Board of Governors constitution, presented on March 23, and the proposal to create an American Sign Language department at Wellesley, presented on March 16. However, the meeting initially did not meet quorum, and after quorum was met, not enough members voted. As a result, Moise sent out the voting form to senators and College Government members not in attendance, and results will be announced shortly.
