Dean Joy St. John Announces Departure 

On Nov. 4, 2021, President Paula Johnson shared an announcement regarding the departure of the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid, Joy St. John. Dean St. John vouched for increased access to selective universities on a national level, as well as within the College through policies of recruiting larger numbers of QuestBridge Scholars, joining the Posse Foundation and developing programs to help ease the transition into college. Dean St. John will leave her position at the end of the 2021-2022 academic year, having worked at Wellesley for eleven years, to join Harvard University as their Director of Admissions.

Hiring Hindu Affiliate Chaplain

The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life is searching for a Hindu Affiliate Chaplain. The Hindu Chaplain would facilitate religious services by working in collaboration with Darshana, the Hindu religious organization, to hold weekly pujas (prayers). Additionally, the Chaplain would be responsible for providing students with religious and pastoral services as well as promoting an understanding of Hinduism within the College community. The posting for the position is now live on Workday and accessible through the Wellesley Human Resources website. 

Campus grounds reopening

On Nov. 15, Vice President for Finance and Administration and Treasurer Piper Orton announced to the College community in an email that Wellesley’s campus would be open to all outdoor visitors starting on Nov. 16. Campus buildings will still be closed to visitors. Restrooms and athletics facilities, including outdoor facilities, will also remain closed to the public, though spectators will be allowed at sporting events. The part of the Lake Waban trail owned by the Hunnewell family will also remain closed to both the town and College, at the request of the family.
