Food poisoning
During the last month, numerous Wellesley students reported that the food from Wellesley Fresh has given them food poisoning. Incidents have come from the dining halls at Tower, Bates and Lulu. Numerous students have expressed outrage on social media, and called on administration to make a change.
Changes to COVID-related policies
With a state-wide reduction in the number of positive COVID-19 cases, the College decided to relax some COVID policies on campus. Effective Feb. 23, students are no longer required to wear masks in residence halls or in each other’s rooms. In addition, students can now dine in the common spaces of their residence halls, and cultural houses may now serve food at events. However, society houses are still prohibited from serving food due to their lack of HEPA filters. Students can further dine in academic and administrative buildings as long as they are in established break rooms with social distancing, or at the tables near the Leaky Beaker. Guest policies remain largely the same.
Distinguished Faculty Lecture to be David Lindauer
Stanford Professor of Economics David Lindauer has been announced to deliver this year’s Distinguished Faculty Lecture. Established in 1999, this lecture provides an opportunity for respected faculty members to deliver public lectures for the entire community. Following a lecture by Professor Lindauer on Tuesday, May 3 at 4 p.m. in Collins Cinema, there will be a reception held in Davis Plaza. Pre-registration is required to attend the lecture in person, but it will also be livestreamed.
Camellia Student Leadership Award opens
On Feb. 28, nominations for the 2022 Camellia Student Leadership Awards opened. Established in 2018, the awards honor students who have demonstrated exemplary leadership throughout their engagement on campus. All members of the Wellesley College community are welcomed to nominate students who they think embody the spirit of the awards. With 10 award categories for individuals and groups, nominations for this year’s awards continue until March 25.
