Cross Country
The Cross Country team brought home a fifth place finish from the NEWMAC Championship tournament on Oct. 30 that took place at Highland Park in Attleboro, MA. Senior Claire Anderson finished seventh overall in the race with a time of 22:24.3. MIT finished in first place out of the 11 teams in the conference. They were followed by Smith College, Coast Guard and WPI to complete the top five teams.
Crew
Blue Crew took to the water on Oct. 23 when they raced in the Annual Head of the Charles Regatta. The first varsity boat finished second overall in the Collegiate Eights Race, the second varsity boat finished in eighth place, and the third varsity boat took 33rd place. The first place finish was DII Mercyhurst University. Wellesley College broke the program record finishing with a time of 16:40.72. The Blue will start competing again in the spring.
Field Hockey
The Field Hockey team finished up their regular season play against Springfield College on Oct. 29. They just barely lost with a 2-1 finish that rounded out their season record of 7-11. Their work this season earned them a sixth place seed in the NEWMAC Championship Tournament bracket. They are playing third seed WPI on Nov. 1 in the quarterfinal competition.
Swim & Dive
The Swimming & Diving team competed in their first meet on Oct. 29 against Wheaton College. The Blue ended up finishing with 133 points while Wheaton finished with 161, but the Blue had several exciting wins within individual events. First-year Elsa Marsden took first place in the 1- and 3-meter dive, which earned her the title of NEWMAC Diver of the Week. The 200 medley relay team also pulled out a first place finish with a time of 1:46.90. They will ride off this momentum as they continue the rest of their season.
Soccer
The Soccer team competed tied with No. 24 Emerson 0-0 in a NEWMAC game with Kendall Lincoln saving four shots. Also, the Blue tied with Wheaton with Junior Thea Feldgoise scoring for the fourth time this season. They closed out their season with a 3-1 win against Mount Holyoke with Paige Sangston, Marleigh Ausbrooks and Elina Saab-Sundén scoring.
