President’s Corner
Plans for dining hall employee appreciation were made. Butcher paper will be put in the dining halls for students to write messages on. There will also be postcards for students to write messages to specific dining hall workers. Additionally, a Social Chair was elected.
ADR & Transportation Presentations
Presentations were canceled because representatives for ADR and Transportation departments were both sick.

One of the Freeman Senators brought up the issue with people throwing away dining hall dishes. They voiced concerns about compost, recycling, trash, and sustainability. Additionally, Svetlana ‘26, Senator from Shafer, brought up the issue of hiding percentages during ballot initiative votes and the possibility of changing the 15 year old policy that keeps the student body from being shown the percentages. Dean of Students Sheila Horton, invited Svetlana to visit with her about changing that policy. Dean Horton also added that the policy was not changed last year because the history behind the policy is unclear. Dean Horton wants a better understanding of the policy before changing it. Another Shafer Senator, Marty ‘24, brought up what the status is about a potential change to the demonstration policy. Mikayla ‘25, the Community Organizing and Inclusion Liaison (COIL), stated that the Community Organizing Resource Collective (CORC) is working on a protest fund to make supplies such as posters and markers available to students to support activism on campus. CORC is also working on creating a committee to make changes to the demonstration policy. Teddy ‘27, Senator for Cazenove, asked what the intent was behind President Johnson’s recent email regarding the situation in Gaza. Dean Horton replied by saying that it is a formality that Presidents of colleges and universities typically put out a statement about current events around the world that impacts the student body. On a similar point, Dean Horton made a general statement, saying that it’s not necessary to be afraid to come to administration regarding on-campus demonstrations. In response, a student raised concerns about an increase in police presence if the organizers of the protest work with the College. Dean Horton said that communication with the College will open up channels of communication between administration and the organizers to ensure that appropriate safety measures are in place so that all students feel safe at protests and demonstrations. Dean Horton noted that it is a violation of the honor code to not follow the demonstration policy (notifying the College).
Cabinet Announcements
Kaya Crosby ‘24, Director of On Campus Affairs (DOOCA) announced that the Schneider Board of Governors (SBOG) will be hosting Drag Bingo in Bates Dining Hall at 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 18. It was also confirmed that COIL Drop in hours will be on Tuesdays from 1-2 starting November 7 in the Severance Hall 1st floor living room. Lastly, the Chief Justice and Academic Charges department mentioned that they are willing to put together a presentation on how academic charges work.
