CG encourages student org collaboration to avoid over-programming

College Government (CG) Vice President Charlotte Harris ’16 hosted the annual Presidents’ Training event this past weekend. In her presentation, Harris emphasized how over-programming is harmful and orgs can help prevent it by co-hosting events with other orgs or departments, or by or simply doing less. Last year, 2,227 curricular events, 4,365 special events and 2,384 student activities took place. In total, students made 10,246 reservations last year, and 470 reservation requests had already been processed this year by Sept. 17.

College purchases TurboVote

The College has purchased TurboVote, a free online voting tool that allows students to register to vote in Massachusetts or in their home state via absentee ballot. TurboVote also provides reminders for local, state and federal elections. The deadline to register to vote in Massachusetts using TurboVote is Sept. 28. Although the College has added this new tool, the Committee for Political and Legislative Awareness (CPLA) will still register voters for free this week as they usually do every year. The registration drive will take place until Thursday this week. Today, CPLA will register voters from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. on the second floor of the Lulu Chow Wang Campus Center. Tomorrow, they will be in the Sage Lounge of the Science Center from 4 to 5 p.m.
