CGP and Associate Dean of Students clarify Student Leadership Stipend policy
In the President’s Report, College Government President (CGP) Adeline Lee ’16 clarified the attribution of the credit for the passing of compensation for Resident Assistants (RAs) and House Presidents (HPs). Lee said that the Student Leadership Stipend (SLS) has roots in students’ efforts years before the Class of 2016 were firstyears. While there was a lot of advocacy this year, the Student Leadership Stipend became a reality due to all of the hard work that has been occurring for many years, Lee said. In terms of the RA/HP Compensation, Associate Dean of Students Carol Bate says it will come in the form of a stipend because that was what the committee decided on after much deliberation and research. Full details regarding the stipend will be available during the recruitment process for next year’s RAs and HPs. However, current RAs and HPs will hear about these details prior to that time.
MAC announces Town Hall with leaders in the Ville
Multicultural Affairs Coordinator (MAC) Ananya Ghemawat ’17 announced that a town hall meeting will take place today at 12:30 p.m. in Alumnae Ballroom with the chief of the Wellesley Police Department and the president of the World of Wellesley. There will be pizza. The World of Wellesley aims to promote diversity and inclusion in the town of Wellesley. This event seeks to examine how the town of Wellesley interacts with Wellesley College students and is a place for students to voice their concerns and talk about their experiences in the Ville.
DOOCA highlights transparency in SBOG dialogue
Director of On-Campus Affairs (DOOCA) Meredith Ausenbaugh ’16 discussed the necessity of transparency for the Schneider Board of Governors (SBOG), a committee she heads, and announced an event that seeks to promote SBOG transparency. A SBOG Dialogue will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 10 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Lulu Chow Wang Campus Center’s Tishman Commons and will be catered by Rice Theory, a restaurant that serves Thai foods and desserts. This dialogue will serve as a space in which students can voice their opinions about past and future SBOG events, which include the upcoming Kehlani concert on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. in Tishman Commons. Students are encouraged to bring ideas for future SBOG events, no matter how big or small, to the SBOG Dialogue.
