Sustainability Plan Presented

Jay Turner, associate professor of environmental studies and chair of the Advisory Committee on Environmental Sustainability presented a brief outline of the four page plan that will be shown to the board of trustees this spring. The plan explains the committee’s goals for Wellesley over the next ten years in eight sectors, including landscape, food and dining, and energy and climate change. In particular, the committee hopes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the college by 37 percent to keep up with peer institutions.

Interim Dean of Students updates on different scripts in diplomas

Interim Dean of Students Adele Wolfson confirmed that the plan allowed various scripts on diplomas will be moving forward this year. The College is in the process of finalizing the languages for which they do not have any teachers on staff. Seniors should look out for more information regarding filling out their names. Additionally, class lists now display students’ preferred names. This is part of an effort on the College’s part to include more pertinent information on students’ MyWellesley accounts.

Mia Mckenzie, founder of Black Girl Dangerous, comes to Wellesley

Multicultural Affairs Coordinator Ananya Ghemawat and Ethos are hosting question and answer session with Mia McKenzie, founder of the website Black Girl Dangerous and author of “Black Girl Dangerous: On Race, Queerness, Class and Gender.” The event will take place in Tishman Commons on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. Ghemawat mentioned that this platform, which aims to amplify voices of queer and trans people of color, has previously featured submissions from two Wellesley students.
