President’s council plans lecture series on failure
In late April, the President’s Council will sponsor a series of panels and discussions to celebrate failure at Wellesley and beyond. The motive of the event is to de-stigmatize failure in Wellesley College’s high stress, competitive environment. This week, a form will be emailed to students so they can have the opportunity to nominate faculty, alumni and administrators they feel can speak to this topic.
LTS releases plan for new waitlist
and phishing experiment
This fall faculty will have the opportunity to use a waitlist software found in the new Wellesley Course Browser. This is intended to make registration and scheduling run more smoothly this fall. Students will be allowed on the waitlist for four courses, and if accepted into the course, students’ schedule will automatically be updated. Library and Technology Services (LTS) will be sending a more detailed description of the registration process in the coming weeks, so students should keep their eyes out for that. Also, starting next fall LTS will be sending out phishing messages over email to see whether or not students are able to distinguish real messages from phishing ones. If students fall for the bait, they will have to reset their password settings with LTS and undergo an internet safety training session.
Senate reviews campaign information
for 2016 election season
The Elections Committee for this election season has been selected, and campaign season will begin March 30, lasting until April 6. Those still wishing to run for a position must submit their statement of intent no later than March 18 at 11:59 p.m. to [email protected]. There will be two debates this election season. The first will be CG and HPC Debate Wednesday March 30 7-8:30 p.m. at Collins Cinema. The second will be The MPC Debate Saturday, April 2 from 4-5 p.m. at Alumni Ballroom. Tuesday, April 5 will be The Candidate Crawl in all Residence Halls. This year, CG would like to emphasize the importance of keeping elections focused on candidates’ platforms. Therefore, this year a candidate not running for CGP is allowed to spend no more than $25 on their campaign, or they can use a campaign kit provided by the college. CGP Candidates can have a campaign kit and spend $25 of their personal funds. Voting will take place on April 7 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
CG reveals no ballot initiatives have been
submitted yet
There have been no presentations in Senate for a Ballot Initiative, therefore there will not be one this year. The funds from the students activities fee will be going towards the contingency fund which is controlled by The Student Bursar. This fund will be used to cover mistakes made by The Student Bursar’s Office, SOFC and Guaranteed Percentage orgs. It can also be used to buy goods to benefit the entire campus. All of these decisions will be made at the discretion of The Student Bursar.
