Hiring announcements

The Dean’s Office is in the process of hiring a new director of Student Involvement and a new Director of Residential Life. Students may be involved in the search and administration is actively looking for student involvement during that process. Dean Horton expects the new director to be hired by January.

Senate Policy and Ethics Committee (SPEC)

SPEC is a student-run organization that holds College Government accountable for its actions, enforces College Government’s decisions and is the appealing body for College Government applications. A representative from SPEC presented at the Senate meeting this week to emphasize that SPEC is looking to communicate with students and encourage people to attend their meetings. This year SPEC wants to focus on outreach and communication with the student body in order to define how the student body views College Government and how they want it to be held accountable. One goal for the year is to create distinctions between which worries about College Government a student would go to SPEC for versus going to the Honor Code committee. Meetings will be held in the Clapp library on Sundays at 2 p.m. and are open to everyone.

Town hall on campus social life

  Following the cancellation of Remix and the ensuing backlash, College Government Cabinet is considering holding a town hall meeting in order to facilitate a discussion of social life and safety on campus. The event is tentatively to be co-hosted with the House President’s Council and to be held before Fall Break in October. College President Maryam Khan said details on the event would be forthcoming.
