Hi Sibs,

I want to take a moment to thank you for welcoming your CG Cabinet into your House Councils and Teas over the past couple of weeks. It was fantastic to speak candidly with you and answer the questions you had for us.

I promised that we would host a town hall on the topic of social life before Fall Break. And so, I am thrilled to share that College Government will be co-hosting a town hall on social life at Wellesley alongside House Presidents’ Council (HPC). This moderated discussion will be held Thursday, Oct. 5 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in Tishman Commons. We ask you to submit questions through a Google Form that has circulated over the past week to help inform the discussion. While this was initially hosted in response to the decision to cancel Remix, CG and HPC hope that this will be a space for student-centered discourse. By the end of the discussion we hope to draft a document with recommendations to provide our administration.

Particularly timely to this discussion on social life is the College’s search for both the Director of the Office of Student Involvement and for the new Dean of Residential Life. These search committees have been invited to our town hall on Thursday as well. We hope to provide feedback to these committee representatives on what we would like new additions to our college community to know about student culture and students’ needs as they relate social life.

This campus-wide effort is, again, part of my commitment to “Action through Collaboration.” CG has started off the year programming with organizations across campus and even having all of our action items for senators thus far in partnership with organizations like Career Education. The value in collaboration is a continual acknowledgement and recognition that we are stronger together.

The town hall this Thursday has been set-up as a collaborative effort. The hall will be most successful if you engage in the necessary dialogue to facilitate change on our campus. Without our voices, we will not be able to achieve what we wish to see. Particularly as an event centering student voices, organized and led by students and in discussion with our administration, this is an event that will be more successful with the help of your engagement.

College Government is most relevant and most powerful when we engage in discourse together. As your CGP, I hope to see you at Thursday evening’s town hall, and, as always, I welcome your feedback and concerns.
