Budget Advisory Committee seeks to increase Student Involvement
Professor Casey Rothschild from the Budget Advisory Committee vowed that the BAC’s goal is to respond more efficiently and frequently to student inquiries and feedback about budgetary concerns. After the success of a Fireside Chat organized last year, the committee is looking to organize a series of Fireside Chats to help students understand how the budget, or the endowment is utilized at Wellesley College.
Faculty Staff Changes as Dean Horton seeks to improve ties amongst the Wellesley community
Dean Horton announced the new Dean for Student Involvement, Dean Stephanie Weiskopf, and a new Rabbi in the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, Rabbi Dena Bodian. Dean Horton also stated that the Office of Student Involvement is looking to engage students across differences, to welcome our collective differences by conversing about them together. They will try their utmost to ensure that students feel the embrace and spirit of campus life and know that they are valued members of this community. Dean Horton decreed this year as the year that will bring with it many changes to improve the Wellesley College community, and she hopes that students are able to provide feedback on these changes.
Spam Emails and Private Emails brought to the forefront of Senate Discussion
Senators brought up a collective concern of making email chains less intrusive in students’ daily lives, especially emails sent out by individuals. The Senate deliberated on popularizing the Lost and Found on Facebook, in order to decrease the email traffic to students. The spam sent by organizations, seeking to advertise their upcoming events, was also a major concern for senators, who decided to raise awareness among students about the restrictions on sending mass spam emails throughout the College. One solution for organizations’ spam was recognized by the senate to be the Wellesley Events Calendar, created by Wellesley students in order to help organizations advertise their events around campus.
