Cross Country
This weekend, Wellesley’s cross country team traveled to the University of Minnesota to compete in the Roy Griak Invitational. The Blue placed fourth out of the 11 teams in attendance. Grace Cowles ’21 was the fastest runner for Wellesley this weekend, completing the 6k in 23:52.8 and finishing ninth overall. Maya Bradbury ’22 trailed closely behind Cowles, completing the race in 23:55.2 and finishing 12th overall. Members of Wellesley’s cross country team will have another chance to compete on Oct.14, when they travel to Bryn Mawr College for the annual Seven Sisters Championships.
Field Hockey
On Saturday, Wellesley’s field hockey team hosted Clark University for a conference matchup. Goals from Julia Rappaport ’22 and Haley Chrobock ’19 allowed the Blue to clinch a tight 2-1 victory. Wellesley field hockey now has an overall record of 4-5 and a conference record of 1-2. The Blue currently shares the eighth place spot in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) with Mount Holyoke College. Members of Wellesley’s field hockey team will travel to Mount Holyoke this coming Saturday for a conference matchup.
Golf
Members of Wellesley’s golf team competed in the Williams Invitational this past weekend. The Blue tallied 649 strokes in the two day tournament, placing fourth of the 15 teams in attendance. Chansie Yang ’22 was the top-finisher for Wellesley in this weekend, completing the invitational in only 157 strokes and finishing ninth of all the golfers in attendance. Ryan MacVicar ’20, another standout for the Blue, tallied 161 strokes and finished 17th overall. Wellesley golf will conclude its fall season on Oct. 14 when it faces Holy Cross at Blackstone National in Sutton, Mass.
Soccer
This past Saturday, Wellesley Soccer hosted the United States Coast Guard Academy for a conference matchup. Emily Tran ’20 scored a goal in double overtime, helping Wellesley earn a 1-1 tie. The team currently holds an overall record of 3-5-1, a conference record of 0-2-1 and sits in 10th in the NEWMAC. The team will have the chance to boost its standings this coming weekend when members travel to Springfield College for another conference matchup.
Volleyball
On Sept. 29, members of Wellesley’s volleyball team travelled to Springfield College for a non-conference matchup. The Blue fell 3-2, enduring its first loss of the season. In spite of the loss, Wellesley Volleyball still boasts an impressive 10-1 overall record and shares the third place spot in the NEWMAC with MIT. The team will host Roger Williams University this coming Saturday for a non-conference matchup.
