HPC Corner
Zoe Owens, House Presidents’ Council (HPC) Liaison, emphasized maintaining hygiene in the halls, saying it is a collective responsibility to keep the residence halls clean. She also mentioned that the role of resident assistants (RAs) and house presidents (HPs) is to help within the residential halls and that they are a point of contact for your needs. They ensure access to resources, support members and build community.
Deans’ Corner
Dean Sheilah Shaw Horton reminded attendees that COVID-19 is not over, and with Thanksgiving break near, students need to double mask outside when traveling. They need to be extra careful as the case counts in Boston are increasing.
Dean Carol Bate clarified that in room restrictions are for just until students receive one negative result after Thanksgiving break, after which students can freely move about even if classes are online.
Community Organizing and Inclusion Liaison (COIL) Deavihan Scott asked if students can work on campus jobs during those three days, which they can after they receive one negative result.
Georgia Moskiou ’24 asked if RAs can break room restrictions. She was told they can only during emergencies. Lockouts can be done by other RAs who are cleared.
Public safety presentation
Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety Meshia Thomas presented in Senates on reimagining police and campus public safety with efforts being made for the future. She mentioned that Campus Police work on holidays.. There will be an email sent with the details of the presentation. Chief Thomas also spoke highly of taking accountability regarding any Campus Police that don’t follow procedure. She is available to respond to any complaints and says to drop an email or call directly.
Ingrid Bell ’24, secretary-treasurer, asked about Campus Police entering student spaces and how to interact. Medical requests require police to be able to enter residential halls. In these situations, res life and Campus Police work together.
Cabinet Announcements
Organizations Chair Sydney Stearns ’23 said the last date for applications for new organizations is Dec. 1. No in-person meetings can be held until the Friday after Thanksgiving break.
