Students to join the search effort for Kazanjian, Lepore replacements
Dean of Students Debra DeMeis announced on Monday that a student focus group will begin providing feedback in the search for the permanent replacements for two key administrators who left earlier this fall. Interim staffing assignments have temporarily filled the vacant positions left by former Dean of Intercultural Education and Religious and Spiritual Life Victor Kazanjian and former Associate Dean of Students Michelle Lepore. The Multicultural Presidents’ Council, the Multifaith Council, College Government Cabinet and the House Presidents’ Council—all of which are comprised of students—will now join the search process, though it is unclear when permanent replacements will be selected.
College celebrates the life of Kathryn Davis ’28, recently deceased Wellesley alumna
President Bottomly announced on Monday several events that will honor the life of Kathryn Wasserman Davis ’28, who passed away at the age of 106 last April. She was the oldest known Wellesley alumna. This week, Professor of Political Science and M. Margaret Ball Professor of International Relations Craig Murphy will speak about Kathryn’s Ph.D. dissertation, “The Soviets at Geneva.” The lecture will be held on Nov. 20 at 12:30 p.m. in Pendleton West, Room 212. Lunch will be served in the Pendleton East Atrium beforehand. Additionally, April 23 marks a community-wide event in celebration of Davis’s life.
International Body Music Festival artists come to Wellesley
The International Body Music Festival is an annual celebration of the oldest instrument: the human body. The festival was founded by Artistic Director Keith Terry and Executive Director Evie Ladin who continue to produce the festival every two years in San Francisco. After the festival, 10 artists came to Wellesley to perform from Nov. 16 to Nov. 20. Several public performances were offered on campus, including an opening concert on Saturday and a public workshop and family show in Alumnae Hall Ballroom on Sunday. An epilogue performance will be held today from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in Jewett.
