Halloween celebrations begin early at Wellesley. With so many activities going on around campus, there’s no reason to skip out on the holiday fun. Enjoy this guide to the many on-campus Halloween celebrations that all members of the College community are welcome to attend.
Halloween at the Davis: A Tête-à-Tête Fête
The Davis Museum Student Advisory Committee will host a Tête-à-Tête Fête, “a spirited salon in honor of the Art Department” at the Davis Museum on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. Students are invited to enjoy festive treats, drinks and lively conversation with professors from the Art History and Studio Art departments. Guests will also be able to play games and take photos in the souvenir photo booth at the event. Attendees are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes.
The Shakespeare Society’s Haunted Haus
The Shakespeare Society will hold its annual Haunted Haus celebration on Saturday, Nov. 2 between 1 and 3 p.m. The event will include tours of the Shakespeare Society house, where student actors will perform re-enactments of spooky scenes from the Bard of Avon’s famous productions. Admission to the Haus is free.
The Office of the Provost’s Annual Halloween Night
The Provost’s office will host a night of trick-or-treating in honor of Halloween on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Academic Council Room, located on the fourth floor of Green Hall. Students are encouraged to wear costumes to the Halloween night celebration.
Día de los Muertos
A celebration of el Día de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. in Tishman Commons. A mariachi band and Cielito Lindo, Wellesley’s Latin dance organization, will perform at the event. Visitors are encouraged to celebrate the lives of loved ones by placing photos and other mementos on an altar, which will be set up at the event in accordance with the traditional Mexican holiday. The event is sponsored by the Latina Advisor’s Office, the Committee on Lectures and Cultural Events, the Treves Fund, the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, and Harambee House, as well as the Psychology, Education, Music, English and Religion departments.
