The transition to college is hard, whether you’re struggling making friends, navigating the campus or just adjusting to this new chapter of your life. I get it, and as a super cool and informed first-year myself, I’ve compiled the best advice and inside info that I wish I had known when I first got to campus.
- Are you struggling with making any lifelong friendships and feeling socially awkward? Try initiating a conversation by asking your sibs about their highest SAT score!
- Want free Starbucks in Lulu? Exchange any previously purchased Hillary Clinton memorabilia for a week’s worth of drinks.
- There’s a little-known secret gourmet menu at Stone Davis! To gain access to it, just go up to the salad bar, knock thrice, and recite the password: “where is the good food?”; the head chef will take it from there.
- If you and your friends want alcohol, but don’t have a fake ID, ask your RA!
- When you’re going out, make sure you tag along with a massive group! Frats only let in groups of 25+.
- If you’re in a long-distance relationship, call your partner back home EVERY night, your roommate won’t mind at all! (p.s. phone sex, as long as you have your AirPods in, is totally fine too).
- Beware of the squirrels (they smell fear).
- Worried about gaining that freshman-15? Start eating at Tower as a natural substitute for laxatives, and you’ll shed those pounds in no time!
- Tired of having to go off-campus for parties? Well, look no further than Pendleton South: an underground speakeasy located in the lecture hall that connects Pendleton East and West 🙂
- Still not making any friends? Try drugs!
