Hello Wellesley,
Happy first week of autumn! As we settle into the school year, I hope that we will still remember the summer spirit and take time to breathe and experience our beautiful landscape.
College Government has officially kicked off, with its committees beginning meetings this week. In addition, Senate convened for its first session and began the year with a discussion surrounding the College’s housing and facilities. One of my goals this year is to extend the Senate platform to create a generative space for students, staff and other members of the College to convene. If you feel that there are issues which ought to be brought to a wider forum for discussion, please reach out so we can see how to generate conversation around the topic in Senate.
In other news, I would like to welcome Jessica Grady to Wellesley College. Jessica will oversee the Office of Student Involvement, working closely with College Government and other campus partners. It is an exciting moment for her team, given that the Office of Student Involvement recently introduced WEngage. Each recognized organization has access to a page in WEngage, which is an interactive platform where student organizations can post announcements on meetings and events for their members and the campus community. The platform is unique because students will be able to opt into and out of each page. My team and I are looking forward to working with Jessica regarding the rollout for WEngage and any other matters that may arise this year.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me in person or via email. I am always happy to chat and am grateful for the opportunity to serve.
Thanks,
Diana
